Brock, 4, wished to attend a NASCAR race and meet his favorite driver, Kasey Kahne. His wish was granted in April 2006. He and his family, all from Leonard, visited Dallas to attend the race and a meet-and-greet. Brock was diagnosed with Leukemia.
When Brock arrived in Texas, he was wearing a Kasey Khane hat and was holding a Kasey Khane license plate. During his trip, Brock went to the Texas Motor Speedway for a special garage tour and got to meet race car driver Kasey Kahne. The family also watched the Samsung/RadioShack 500 NASCAR race and cheered on Brock’s favorite driver. Much to Brock’s delight, Kasey Kahne finished with a first place victory!
Brock also had the opportunity to attend Chevy Thunder Days, a festival that provides concerts, and interactive games. While there, he got to go backstage to meet some more Team Chevy NASCAR drivers, including Jeff Burton and Kevin Harvick. His trip was a huge success!
Brock, is one of 157 children whose fondest wish has been realized thanks to the Wish A State program, a unique partnership between Jewelers For Children (JFC) and the Make-A-Wish Foundation of America.
About The Jewelers For Children
Since 1999, Jewelers For Children has donated more than $18 million to charities that benefit children who are the victims of catastrophic illness or life threatening abuse and neglect. The funds that JFC donates have been raised through the generosity of the jewelry, diamond and watch industries. Funds are raised throughout the year by a variety of special projects dependent upon the support of the jewelry trade organizations, multi-store retailers, independent jewelers and manufacturers who participate. |
